Day 1
Leh to Nimmu (3,500m – 3,140m elevation)

Our driver will meet you from your flight at the Kushok Bakula Rimpochhe airport in Leh. From here it is a 45minute drive to the heritage hotel Nimmu House, in the village of Nimmu in the Indus Valley. Nimmu is the perfect place to adjust to the altitude and acclimatize to your new surroundings.

Day 2
Nimmu (3,140m)

Today is for acclimatization. Explore and discover the small village of Nimmu. Enjoy the beautiful surroundings of Nimmu House. The gardens and orchards are particularly beautiful especially when the trees (apricot, apple and walnut) are in full blossom.

Day 3
Alchi and Likir Monasteries

Head west to discover the famous Alchi and Likir monasteries. Both monasteries date back to the beginning of the 11th century with the Alchi monastic complex considered to be one of the oldest monasteries of the Tibetan world, possibly as old as the late 10th century.

Day 4
Nimmu (3,140m)

A free day to explore Nimmu village and spend the day hiking to Bagso fort or rafting down the Zanskar River on one of our optional activities.

1. The Bagso Trek: Guided trekking to Bagso fort., A day trek of 4 to 5hrs of walking, returning to Nimmu.
2. Rafting: River rafting on the Zanskar river with stunning mountain scenery along the way through deep gorges beneath towering mountains.

Day 5
Nimmu to Hunder and on to Sumur (3,200m)

Leave for the village of Hunder, crossing the famous Khardung La Pass which at 5,600m above sea level is one of the highest roads in the world. From here you will have the most beautiful panoramic views of the Zanskar River. You will then begin your descent into the valley of Nubra, visiting the 600year old Diskit monastery along the way. Strolling through the white sand dunes between Diskit and Hundar, with the native Bactrian camels the views are almost reminiscent of the Sahara - if your imagination allows you to momentarily conceal the snowy peaks. At twilight you will drive to Sumur where you will stay overnight.

Day 6
Sumur (3,200m)

A day to discover and explore the village of Sumur and its surroundings. The 140year old Samstanling Buddhist monastery overlooks the Nubra valley - a pleasant 40minute walk from the village. The Yarma Gombo monastery is also worth a visit.

Sumur is a quaint mountain village situated at the confluence of the Shayok and Nubra rivers.

Day 7
Sumur to Stok

Returning by car to the Indus Valley via the Khardung La Pass and passing through Leh on to our destination in the Eastern Valley of the Indus, the 200year old Stok Palace. The journey will take between 4 and 5 hours with time on arrival to visit the village before spending the night in the Stok Palace.

Day 8
The Nubra Valley

Today you will discover the ancient monasteries of Matho and Thiksey. The 15th century Matho monastery owes its upkeep in part to the work of an incredible young French lady, the Himalayan art restorer Nelly Rieuf, who, working closely with the monks, devotes her time to conserving the art and heritage of these monasteries.

Day 9
Stok (3500m)

On your final full day, you will start the day by visiting the Royal Palace and monasteries in Leh. In the afternoon, those that would like to can take a one and a half hour round trip walk to the small monastery of Shanti Stupa, which is surrounded by beautiful landscapes stretching from the far Indus to the Stok Mountains. In the evening you will return to Stok and spend your last night in Ladakh at the magical Stok Palace.

Day 10
Stok - Leh (45mins of driving)

An early departure from the Stok Palace to the airport.
